Gillian Nelson sells a lot more than opals.
Ms Nelson moved to Silverton in 1978 with her late husband - an opal miner and polisher - and they opened the doors to the Silverton Opal Shop.
Earlier this year the shop was renovated and now stocks more than ever before.

As well as their renowned wide range of opals, the shop also sells a wide range of souvenirs, minerals and artwork.

Gillian said she enjoyed the pace of life in Silverton, which allowed her to spend time with each of her customers.
"I like it here. It's nice and quiet," she said.
"I get to see a lot of people. I enjoy talking to everyone. You can meet a lot of interesting people."

The Silverton Opal Shop is open from 9am until 5pm, seven days a week.
